Vegetation is first cut against an adjustable primary shear bar, allowing operators to fine-tune clearance for the ideal balance between particle size and production speed. The partially processed material then flows smoothly into a secondary cutting chamber located behind the front bumper, where it is further refined before being evenly discharged to the ground.

Unlike traditional horizontal drum mulchers that rely on hydraulic doors for material reduction, the Battle Ax™ is engineered to deliver more complete processing without the need for a door. Its unique housing design and optimized hitch angle allow the head to roll back and fully expose the knives when cutting standing trees. When tilted forward during reverse operation, the mulcher pulls downed material firmly against the shear bar, increasing cutting efficiency and producing finer, more uniform mulch. A secondary recutter bar at the discharge further refines the material and directs it cleanly to the ground.

The high-pressure gear motor delivers dependable, cost-effective performance as a proven workhorse in demanding applications. Operating at 1,750–2,275 rotor RPM, it strikes an ideal balance between cutting speed and torque for efficient material processing. Engineered for skid steers up to 10,300 lbs, the system supports 15–35.9 GPM hydraulic flow at pressures up to 4,100 PSI, providing reliable power for low-flow forestry mulching applications. (Rated for up to 70 hydraulic horsepower.)
